77GHz Middle-range Automotive Millimeter Wave Radar Sensor

77GHz millimeter wave radar is a backward corner radar system, it is mainly applicative for BSD, LCW, RCTA functions etc. The system can detect the distance, angle and speed of the target, and it is able to multi-target recognition and tracking.

SPECIFICATIONS:

APPLICATIONS:

1) Blind Spot Detection(BSD)

Blind spot detection area: 3*15m rectangular range in the both adjacent lanes. (as the shaded area in figure 1~4.)

• When other vehicle is entering the pre-set BSD area, the radar system will alert the driver by LED warning light. In the meanwhile, if the turn signal is on, the radar system will alert the driver by LED warning light flashing and beeper accordingly. (figure 1)
• Active Overtaking Assistance(AOA): when other vehicle is relatively stationary within the BSD area, or exits the BSD area backwards at a low speed, the radar system will alert the driver. (figure 2)
• When the vehicle exits the BSD area forward, the radar system will end the alarm. (figure 3)
• When other vehicle is approaching outside the BSD area, the radar system gives no warning. (figure 4)

Remark: The blind spot detection area can be adjusted accord to different vehicle, such as van, bus or truck.

2)Lane Changing Assistant(LCA)

LCA detection area: 3*50m rectangular range in the both adjacent lanes. (As the shaded area in the figure)

• When turn signal is on, the LCA function starts working, meanwhile, the radar system will start detecting.
• When other vehicle is passing by the LCA detection area, the LED warning light will be on, which means it is dangerous for lane changing. Meanwhile, if the turning signal is on, the system will alert the driver by beep sounds and flashing LED warning light; if the turning signal is off, the buzzer alarm will be off and LED light will stop flashing as well.
• The alarm distance is increasing as per the relative speed, the maximum alarm distance up to 50m.
• When other vehicle is approaching outside the LCA area, the radar system gives no warning.

3) Rear Cross Traffic Alert(RCTA)

When vehicle is reversing out of the parking space(speed＞ 2 km/h), the system will be activated and detect the areas in 20 meter from the rear-left and rear-right. It will alert the driver if there is pedestrian, vehicle or other obstacles approaching.

4) Door Open Warning(DOW)

When vehicle stop and the door is opening, if there is object entering the detected area and will catch the vehicle within 3.2 seconds, the system will alert driver or passenger by LED warning light or beeper.

• Door open warning detection area: 3*50m at the door opening side.
• Detected object: fast approaching vehicle, motorcycle, bicycle, pedestrian etc.
